We Remember and Pray for our Dearly Departed

All Souls Day Prayer

Merciful Father,

On this day, we are called to remember those who have died,
especially our Beta Sigma brothers,

Particularly those who have died recently,
And pray for their joyful reunion with you, their loving creator.

As your son taught us to call the stranger
neighbor, our fallen are many—

Names we will never know,
Voices we have never heard,
In lands we may never visit,
Yet brothers and sisters all.
And so we pray.

For victims of war, caught in the crossfires of
conflicts we could not quell,
for soldiers and civilians,
adults and children, we pray …
Grant eternal rest, O Lord.

For those migrants who have died seeking a
haven where they hoped to find safety
and opportunity for themselves and for their families, we pray …
Grant eternal rest, O Lord.

For victims of hunger, denied their share in the
bounty you have placed before us, we pray …
Grant eternal rest, O Lord.

For victims of COVID19, AIDS, Malaria, Ebola, and other infectious diseases,
who died before adequate care could reach them, we pray …
Grant eternal rest, O Lord.

For those refugees seeking asylum from war,
who died in a land that was not their home, we pray …
Grant eternal rest, O Lord.

For victims of emergencies and calamities everywhere,
who died amid chaos and confusion, we pray …
Grant eternal rest, O Lord.

Lord, as you command, we reach out to the fallen.
We call on you on behalf of those we could not reach this year.
You raised your son from the dead
that all may share in his joyful resurrection.

In Jesus' name, we pray …

Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine,
Et lux perpetua luceat eis.
Requiescant in pace.

Amen

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brod Wally Rodriguez. He was 75. Husband and Father. A Beta Sigma Brother.

We remember Brod ‘Wahlee’ as the go to Brod for creative advise, he was instrumental in bringing the Malmon mascot to life, which has marched in the Philippine Day parade along Madison Ave in NYC since 2009 when it first appeared.

The ‘Who Me Malmon Big Apple?’ mascot has also proven to be a major attraction during fraternity reunions and special occasions here.

Brod Wahlee has also imparted among us, important historical perspective about the fraternity: the symbols - the seal and pin; tradition - martial arts and activism; and personalities - them ‘bright boys’ during their heydays, or ‘those early years’ in Diliman.

We remember more and miss him dearly.

Paalam Brod Wahlee. Maraming Salamat at Hanggang sa Muli...

We pray

God our Father,
Your power brings us to birth,
Your providence guides our lives,
and by Your command we return to dust.

Lord, those who die still live in Your presence,
their lives change but do not end.
We pray in hope for our family,
relatives and friends,
and for all the dead known to You alone.

In company with Christ,
Who died and now lives,
may they rejoice in Your kingdom,
where all our tears are wiped away.
Unite us together again in one family,
to sing Your praise forever and ever.

Amen.
